Passage 2In recent years, there has been a big inerease in air travel and many large aipots have now reached the limit of the number of aircraft moverments they can handle. The problem is made worse by the size of many major cities which gets in the way of the development of existing airports. Any new airports have to be built a long way from city centers, which presents communication problems, and in many counties there simply isn' t enough land for such developments. Now a new proposal has been put forward which would help to relieve the congestion, as far as short fights are concemed. This involves the use of the smaller airalt, carrying about fity passengers, which only requires a small takeoff or landing area and which makes comparatively lttle noise. Such aircraft could operate near city centers, for exarmple ,on unused industrial sites, and give good service to businessmen and other travelers who are going between centers which are relatively close, such as European capitals. The main probleim remaining is the question of noise. There have been so many people complaining about the high level of noise near airports that any govemment can expect to find considerable Teistance to building new airports in towns, even though these short 2 rarge small planes are rlatively quiet. The fact remains, ihat increasing mumbers of people want to travel by air and will accept somewhat slower flights if they can have the convenience of an airport near the city center. Passage 1Your therapist's, name is ELIZA, and she interacts with you through text on a computer screen. However embarrassing or difficult your problem may be, ELIZA will not hesitate to ask you a question about it, or respond graciously, “That is very interesting. Why do you say that?”. Computer-based therapy has come a long way since ELIZA, a 1960s computer program designed to emulate (仿效) a therapist.Today, with the Internet, people can use the instant message format to communicate with real therapists. Experts say the Internet has enornous potential for psychotherapy, espeially for reaching people who do not have access to in person care. People may be more willing to talk about things that are embarrassing if they're not interacting face to face, with a therapist. However, instant messaging has flaws—therapists miss out on visual cues, gestures and, speech intonations. Experts say that it' s thus probably not going to make inoffice sessions obsolete.Besides instant messaging, other computer-based therapies require Jless or no interaction with a real therapist, according to experts. Like ELIZA, some are programs that operate without a therapist contolling them. Today, however, instead of just text, they may incorporate sophisticated graphics, video or the ability to create game-style avatars (虚拟活动人像)。The cost of this to the patient would be much less than face-to-face therapy, but it's not clear whether it would be as effective.1.
